Ahh... My favourite cartoon...!!! Well.. Just wanted to share something about these two creatures.. And their never-ending rivalry.. As there's no clue why they are always after each other..!! But they are lovable..!!!
Thomas Cat (Tom) is a fiendish opportunist, always anxious to ingratiate himself with the powers that be, wether housekeeper, dog, or even, on occasion, mouse. All ways things of his stomach.
Jerry Mouse (Jerry), small, brown, cherubic yet cheeky impish schemer, is happy minding his own business until cornered, piqued or generally provoked. All ways looks out for the other little guy.
Tom and Jerry is a series of animated theatrical shorts created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer that centered on a never-ending rivalry between a cat (Tom) and a mouse (Jerry) whose chases and battles often involved comic violence. Hanna and Barbera ultimately wrote and directed one hundred and fourteen Tom and Jerry cartoons at the MGM cartoon studio in Hollywood, California between 1940 and 1958, when the animation unit was closed.
Tom and Jerry has a worldwide audience that consists of both children and adults, and has also been remembered as one of the most famous and longest-lived rivalries in American cinema. In 2000, TIME named the series one of the greatest television shows of all time.
Tom is very quick-tempered and thin-skinned, while adorable mouse Jerry is independent and opportunistic. Jerry also possesses surprising strength for his size, lifting items such as anvils with relative ease and withstanding considerable impacts with them. Despite the typical cat eats mouse, it is actually quite rare for Tom to actually try and consume Jerry. Despite being very energetic and determined, Tom is no match for Jerry's brains and wits. By the final "iris-out" or "fade-out" of each cartoon, Jerry usually emerges triumphant, while Tom is shown as the loser.
Well.. And that's why I love this show.. 'Cause in the end the small guy- Jerry wins and not the big cat- Tom..!!!'
